Max Buzzell Golf Tournament

The annual Max Buzzell Memorial Golf Tournament is an exciting event that goes beyond just being a fundraiser. It serves as a perfect opportunity to kick off our sailing season and brings together alumni, campers, and friends to celebrate our program. The event is a great way to connect with old friends and make new ones, all while supporting a great cause. The energy and enthusiasm of all the participants makes it an unforgettable experience. Come join us and be a part of this amazing event that not only supports a great cause but also creates lasting memories.

Embodying the spirit of camaraderie and excellence, the tournament stands as a tribute to the cherished memory of camper and coach Max Buzzell. Through this event, we unite in a common goal of raising funds for the staff's US Sailing Level 1 and 2 training and certification, ensuring that the legacy of passion for sailing continues to thrive. Join us to not only meet the dedicated current staff but also to rekindle connections with the vibrant community of SBJSA. Let us come together, inspired by Max's legacy, to create a future filled with opportunities and shared experiences on Sodus Bay.

Join us at Sodus Bay Heights Golf Club for a fun-filled day of golfing contests, raffles, and a delicious boxed lunch. The tournament will begin with a Four-Person Scramble and Shotgun Start at 1:00 PM, following the Registration/Check-In, which opens at 11:30 AM. To top off the day, a Buffet Style Dinner of Sirloin Tips or Chicken French will be served after the tournament. A cash bar and appetizers will be available.

Free Fishing Day - Statewide

MORE INFORMATION: https://dec.ny.gov/things-to-do/freshwater-fishing/learn-to-fish

DEC designates several dates throughout the year as free fishing days, which allows anyone to recreationally fish without a freshwater fishing license in New York State! Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29, 2025 are designated free fishing days. This offers the perfect opportunity to try out fishing for the first time, for getting back into the sport after taking a break, or for taking a friend or the whole family along to fish!

Even though a license is not needed, all fishing regulations apply. As a result, be sure to familiarize yourself with the Freshwater Fishing Regulations prior to venturing out.

Don't forget to download and use the Tacklebox feature in DEC's HuntFishNY mobile app to find places to fish, including boat launches and parking areas, as well as freshwater fishing regulations, likely fish species, and stocking information per waterbody!

Cornhole Tournament

Cornhole Tournament

“Anyone can play, anyone can win” — that’s the motto of the American Cornhole League (ACL.)  You’ve seen it on ESPN, and it’s the fastest growing sport in America. Clubs have been forming for years allowing people the opportunity to compete in a more competitive way than in the backyard.

585 Cornhole started in September 2017 at the Scottsville American Legion and now plays at a warehouse (sponsored by Blue Toad Cidery) on 120 Mushroom Blvd in Henrietta. It’s one of Monroe County’s earliest cornhole clubs and is bringing competitive cornhole to Sodus Point for Summerfest on Sodus Bay.

Partnering with the Sodus Point Summerfest, 585 Cornhole hopes to continue to promote the sport to bring more players not only to their club but to clubs all over the area. The goal is to bring in as many teams to the event as possible with a max of 80 teams.

Details:

585 Cornhole is running a BYOP Cornhole tourney at Sodus Point Summerfest.

$50 entry fee per team

4 game round-robin followed by seeded double elimination tourney. Top 3 teams in each bracket win cash prizes.

Registration at 10 am / Bags fly at 11 am. Registration on Scoreholio:

Sodus Point Pro/Am

Sodus Point Pro/Am

Sodus Point has a rich history of sportfishing on Lake Ontario. The area has a one of a kind fishery that offers the opportunity to target many different species, from King Salmon to Steelhead and Brown trout. With its proximity to the Rochester water basin and the Salmon River, tremendous fishing is usually to be had within a few short miles from the port. It’s no wonder why many teams bring limit catches to weigh-in year after year.
This year’s Pro- AM kicks off with 1K a day starting on July 10th and runs through the 14th
Captain Jack’s Big Fish Friday, July 12th.
